Little Nonsense
Children of all ages love silly rhymes,
nonsense words and ridiculous riddles. Now children from all over
Britain are being invited to contribute to a new iPhone and iPad App,
and have their voices used on 'Little Nonsense' due be launched by Colin
West, author and illustrator of over 60 children's books.
Children can submit their recording of one
of Colin's laugh-out-loud verse, and win the chance of having their
voice being used on the App, due to be launched in September 2012. Full
details are on
www.littlenonsense.co.uk and a
Preview version of the App is now available in the Appstore.
To
make a recording, simply follow the guide on
Little Nonsense and be in with a chance of having your voice used on
this exciting App!
The Little Nonsense App will provide pure
interaction for all the family. A major feature of the App will be the
games and puzzles that accompany each poem. Everyone will be able to
enjoy Colin's sparkling humour and comical capers on a totally new
platform, including witnessing never-before seen illustrations and
specifically composed music for the App.
’Little Nonsense will take inspiration from
Colin's book, The Big Book of Nonsense. This has received critical
acclaim from the press including The Times Educational Supplement
claiming that the book
"should be in every teacher's
personal library.”
The new App sees characters, such as
Aunty Agnes and Clumsy Clarissa come to life, and become part
of the game and interaction. Meet The Nutpickers who nicked the nuts
alongside many more humorous characters as Colin's rhythmical verse
takes you through fantasy scenarios, provides tantalising
tongue-twisters and wacky, wonderful words.
To take part in the App, Colin is asking
children to record their own reading of one his Little Nonsense poems.
Colin will then select 100 children whose particular words or phrases
stand out to be used on the App. Winners will have their voice featured
on the App when it launches later this year and will all receive a copy
of the book The Big Book of Nonsense.
Generations have previously enjoyed Nonsense
poems from Spike Milligan, Lewis Carrol, Quentin Blake and Edward Lear.
Now Colin West brings a new opportunity for children who can delight in
the world of Nonsense verse and incandescent illustrations in this
totally interactive medium.
